Rose Wachuka Macharia

Rose Wachuka Macharia is the Chief of Staff, Office of the Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya. The Oxford-trained policy expert and former diplomat has served in senior government positions for more than 10 years. Rose’s human approach to public policy has contributed to some of Kenya’s most iconic achievements, including one hundred percent transition from primary to secondary education, the development of an athlete-centric approach to management , a gender-responsive sports policy in Kenya, the young Kenya works program supported by the Mastercard Foundation intent on providing five million Kenyans with dignified and fulfilling work, among many other achievements.
Rose also chairs the Nalafem Collective Council, a Pan-African group with a mission to foster, enable, and mobilize young women from Africa and the Diaspora.
She is the recipient of the Presidential Award of the Grand Order of the Burning Spear for her exemplary leadership in Kenya’s public service. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Moi University and a Master of Public Policy from the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. Rose is also an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
