Emerging Public Leaders is pleased to share a series of leadership and governance updates as we move into the 2026–2030 strategic period.

The Board recently welcomed two new Directors: Ambassador Jessye Lapenn, former United States Ambassador to the African Union, and Dr. Hervé Lado, Head of the Africa Hub of the United Nations Global Compact, based in Abuja. Their appointments strengthen EPL’s technical depth and geographic reach at a pivotal moment in our growth.

The Board has also asked experienced Emily Stanger Sfeile to serve as Interim Executive Director from June, while an executive search for the permanent role takes place. Emily brings two decades of executive leadership in technology, public policy, and governance, including work at the highest levels with governments across Africa. She brings deep familiarity with EPL’s programmes and mission.

We warmly thank outgoing Executive Director Abigail Kajumba for her impeccable leadership since 2023 and wish her every success in her next chapter.

Emmanuel Lubembe, Chair of the Board
